New GA Fuel Promises Better Range.....

and LOWER COST.

"Not only can our fuel seamlessly replace the aviation industry's
standard petroleum fuel [100LL], it can outperform it," says John
Rusek, a professor at Purdue University and co-founder of Swift
Enterprises. The company recently unveiled a new general aviation
fuel that it says will be less expensive, more fuel-efficient and
environmentally friendlier than any on the market.
Unlike other alternative fuels, Rusek said, SwiftFuel is made of synthetic
hydrocarbons that are derived from biomass, and it can provide an
effective range greater than 100LL, while costing about half as much
to produce. "Our fuel should not be confused with first-generation
biofuels like E-85 [85 percent ethanol], which don't compete well
right now with petroleum," Rusek said. Patented technology can produce
the 1.8 million gallons per day of fuel used by GA in the U.S. by
using just 5 percent of the existing biofuel plant infrastructure, the
company said.

Ray Chaplins 1946 Ercoupe Sold!

Below is a short video of Ray Chaplin's Ercoupe leaving Whiteplains after being sold. It was sold to a gentleman that is going to restore it. It was flown to KBNL Barnwell airport that is 42 nm south of Whiteplains. The first attempt was aborted after fuel was spotted coming out of the center gas tank. The second attempt was fowled by the engine sputtering to a stop after giving it full power. A quick check didn't find anything so an attempt was made to start the engine, but low voltage didn't allow the starter to swing the prop more then two times. After a jump start, it started, and he was able to take off.

Phase II Tree Removal

In the never ending job of trying to get Phase II irrigation system to work (out of service since 2005), today Ed Farr and Don Cook where able to remove the big tree at the entrance to Phase II. The tree needed to be removed because it was over the irrigation pipe that was broken. While we are now one step closer to getting the system to work, it is still out of service.
Tree removal would not have been possible with out the help of Ed Farr and his fork lift. Thanks Ed....Great job!
