Our neighborhood hosted a dinner cookout for our local firefighters, who were doing a training exercise and updating our neighborhood assessment.
Willem cooked burgers and dogs for us on Jim Wheat’s 747 size grille, and our neighbors brought food to share. The 25-30 firefighters had a great time, were well fed, and enjoyed touring the hangar/homes and several stand alone hangars. Our thanks to Willem and Alice for the use of their hangar and to all of the neighbors who joined us for fine dining. Note two tanks on the grille.

Bill and Peg Como, along with Don and Posie Cook attended the Awards Banquet last night at the Ft. Jackson NCO Club. Our very own, Bill Como gave a great speech on our Young Eagles program at Whiteplains.
Thanks to all the pilots and ground crew for making this program work.

Jim Wheat won the South Carolina Lottery at the South Carolina Breakfast Club at Broxton Bridge this morning. Rumors that Jim won enough money to buy breakfast for everyone next week at Whiteplains are still being verified.
While folks at Whiteplains enjoyed the Gilber Fire Department BBQ, the Rainwater's and the Cook's managed to fly over to Vidalia, Georgia for the Onion Festival. They had an excellent turn out and you could not of asked for a nicer day. They put on an outstanding air show with many planes of all kinds, even a B2 Bomber and A-10. A few pictures below.

The planes are RV6's, RV8's, one RV8A and one RV Super8.
|Looking down flight line... good attendance.|
