Here is a shot of Whiteplains heroes Jeff Cargile and Dennis Perry replacing the windsock on Jim Wheat's hangar on Sunday, September 30, 2012.

Project supervisors are also pictured.

One supervisor suggested that Whiteplains hangar owners might want to call on Jeff or Dennis to help install or repair the required hangar night lights.

Whiteplains Plantation Announcement - Hangar Flood Lights

Hangar Lights
As the days get shorter it is a good time to check your hangar flood light.  The requirement to have a working exterior flood light enhances our neighborhood safety and security.  Anyone with a detached hangar along the taxiway or runway should have a working flood light in the gable area.  If your hangar doesn't have a light or if it is not functioning, your cooperation in addressing this will be greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please let me know.
Jeff

Whiteplains Plantation Announcement.

Neighbors, for about the last four years I have administered our Announcements and Pilot's List Servers. Recently Steve Crimm has offered to take over the Email system and the three domains registered for the community website. This transfer is more complicated than you might imagine and will take a couple of weeks. We will attempt to make the transition seamless, however there may be times when the system is unavailable. I want to thank Steve for taking on this task, it will be many hours of system configuration and much needed website updates. Steve should provide update messages during the process and you should forward any issues to him in the comming weeks. This transfer comes at a time when I have very little time nor the interest to keep up with system. Many thanks my friends that helped and supported me.

Best Regards
Ray Hill

Triple Tree Events

September 5-9 marks the dates for this year’s Triple Tree Aerodrome Fly-In near Woodruff, S.C., your blogger’s favorite sport aviation event of the year.  Compared by many old-timers to the famed Rockford EAA conventions from years past, Triple Tree has all the ingredients needed for success: An incredible 7,000-foot smooth grass runway (SC00), camping, permanent showers, a food court, builder workshops, seminars, two large fishing ponds, a clear stream with a sandy beach, and, for the first time this year, a trip to a nearby sporting clay facility.

Our very own Ed Fisher has a talk from AirVenture this year, “Traditional Homebuilding.”

On Saturday, a small but mighty group of Whiteplains neighbors gathered to perform our regular trash pickup duties along the roads that leads to our airpark.  We gathered about 18 bags of trash and found it interesting that those of us who do not live along the road pick up trash for those who do live along the road. We are certain, however, that they appreciate our efforts.  Note the two gentlemen wearing ties, which elevates our cleanup detail to a much higher level!
