Whiteplains Family

What a success this weekend was! Thanks to Jim Wheat for not only the use of his hangar but also coordinating the food service for EAA Chapter 242. I even saw our board member Terry Yon cracking up with the eggs. Thanks Terry.
Thanks to Whiteplains Pilots Association for doing a great job on handling Aircraft and Auto parking.
It looked like we have done this before. Advisory went very well also. Thanks to Jack Fastnaught and Ray Ackerman for taking leadership rolls on these tasks.
I have also heard that the Fly market was a huge success and we may want to expand on it next year. Good job Ray Hill.
In summary, we parked about 44 Aircraft and about 26 Auto's, served over 200 people, sold about $1800 at the fly market and more important we all had a great time.
Whiteplains was a successful host to the SCBC. And it is truly a pleasure to be part of it.

SCBC at Whiteplains comes to an end.... for this year!

You could not have asked for nicer weather for this years SCBC, hosted by the fine folks at Whiteplains Plantation. We had an outstanding attendance, with an unofficial count of plus 40 planes that flew in. The steaks ran out at the 200 count.

This would not have been possible if it wasn't for the support of the Whiteplains Plantation residents. Thanks to everyone that pitched in and did what ever was asked of them. Give yourself a big slap on the back for a job "WELL DONE".

A special thanks to this years hosts, Jim Wheat for hosting this years event, and Dennis and Denise Perry for the use of there hangar for the food service. Also to John and Vicky Gardner for hosting the Aviation Fly Market at their hangar.

See you next year for an even bigger and better SCBC at Whiteplains.

It's our time of the year again, It's gets so exciting just to think about all the activity that's going to go on. Airplanes coming and going, people running around making sure all the task are taken care of.

YAHOOOOOOO!

Friends, Food and Flying

This is our time to show off Whiteplains and we do it well.

Here are just a few reminders:

1. See Jack Fastnaught if you have any questions; he has the big picture.

2. Team Volunteers for Aircraft Parking, Auto Parking along with Air Traffic Advisory will meet at Jim Wheat's hangar between 7:45 AM and 8:00 AM. We will then breakup in our groups and have a quick brief and hand out orange vest and so on.

3. The food service will also meet then, see Jim Wheat for station assignments.

4. See Ray Hill for Fly Market sales, I do believe they want the parts there on Saturday to get it tagged.

5. If you would like to show off your Car or Motor Bike, Hot Rod, whatever, we will park them on the grass area next to Jim Wheat's hangar. This is always a neat deal to see. There also was mention of an Aircraft display on John Gardner's lot; see Jack for details of that.

6. If you would like to help park Aircraft, call Dennis at Cell-609-6751.

7. If you would like to help park Auto, call Ray at Cell-413-7166.

8. If you like to help with the food line, call Jim at Cell-960-5929.

Success is measured by having a safe and enjoyable time with all of us involved in some way or another, so come on out and join the excitement.

Thank you again for the visits, cards and flowers while he was in the hospital; but especially for your help while we were so lost at the end and the concern and support that you have given Mom during this difficult time in her life.

The Southeast Mooney Pilots Group is pleased to announced a
spectacular event to be held on the fourth Saturday of June.  Members
Steve Ivester and Tommy Craig have arranged a very interesting program
for June 23 at the Hickory Regional Airport (KHKY) in North Carolina.

The main focus of this lunch-time program will be the new FAA
in-flight data communications system called Automatic Dependent
Surveillance-Broadcast, or more commonly known as ADS-B.  Steve
Merritt from the North Carolina Department of Transportation will be
giving a presentation on ADS-B, and aircraft will be available
throughout the day to provide actual in-flight demonstrations of the
system.  The FAA is proposing to replace the radar-based ATC system
with ADS-B.  It also promises to provide accurate in-flight traffic
information as well as weather radar.  An initial deployment of ADS-B
is already happening along the entire East Coast of the US, including
North Carolina.

There are many other great thing happening at the fly-in.  Here is the
full schedule:

9:00  - 3:00    Meet and greet, view Sabre Society War Bird Museum aircraft
10:00 - 12:00   ADS-B Demo Flights - Main terminal ramp
12:00 - 1:00    Lunch at Froggy Pete's Restaurant - Main terminal
1:00  - 1:45    Presentation on ADS-B by Steve Merritt of NCDOT
1:45  - 3:00    ADS-B Demo Flights - Main terminal ramp

In addition to the demo flights and the presentation on ADS-B, the
Sabre Society War Bird museum will be available to attendees.  They
have a static display on the main ramp which includes an F-14 Tomcat,
FJ4 Fury, F105 Thunderchief, A7 Corsair, and F4 Phantom.  To find

Finally, Premier Aircraft Sales will be providing one of the new Mooneys
for an up-close view on the main ramp throughout the day.

In addition to all the activities at the fly-in, Hickory is home to a
number of furniture factories and warehouse showrooms.  Some great
deals can be found in Hickory, and all of the stores will arrange for
shipping.  Hickory is also the "gateway to the Blue Ridge Mountains"
and there are many nearby recreational opportunities.  Attendees may
be interested in flying in for this event and spending the weekend.

Attendess should plan to park at the FBO, Profile Aviation.  Ramp fees
will be waived for attendees.  The main terminal ramp will be reserved
for the demonstration and display aircraft.

Gilbert-Summit Fire Department BBQ

Dear Whiteplains neighbors,

There is less than a week left until the May 5 Gilbert-Summit Fire Department Bar-B-Que. Thank you to the many neighbors who have contacted me and purchased a $7 Bar-B-Que chicken or pork dinner, and decided to join the neighborhood gathering in our hangar at 12 noon Saturday, May 5. Ken and I are excited about the support the community has shown to the local fire department for the fourth year in a row.

If you have not yet purchased a ticket and would like to do so, please see me before May 5. If you are unable to participate in this event, but would like to make a donation to the Gilbert-Summit Fire Department, please make a check out to them, and forward it to me.

Ray Chaplin's Annual

Just a couple of pictures of the activity going on in Ray Chaplin's hanger during the annual on his Erocouple. It's been a very interesting adventure.

Jim Causey dropped by to see what was going on and Jack put him right to work, doing what he does best. We even got a smile out of Jim.

Currently, Jack Fastnaught is doing the annual on the Eurocoupe in Ray Chaplins hanger. If you would like to help out, give Jack a call at 358-0667.

Bar-B-Que Lunch Gilbert-Summit Fire Department

Dear Whiteplains neighbors,

On Saturday, May 5, 2007 the Gilbert-Summit Fire Department will be holding their annual Bar-B-Que lunch. Gilbert-Summit is the primary responder for fires in our neighborhood, and this Bar-B-Que is their big annual fund-raiser.

As in the previous three years, I am selling tickets in advance for this event. Then, with the help of some neighbors, we will pick up all the ordered meals at the fire department, and bring them back to Whiteplains for a community lunch gathering in our hangar at 12 noon. All are invited to join us.

Tickets are $7.00 each .... you can choose either a pork or chicken dinner. We will provide sodas and dessert.

You can contact me directly, or I will seek you out to purchase tickets and take your family's order for the Bar-B-Que. This must be done prior to May 5, the date of the event.

If you are not able to participate in this event, or if you are an out-of-state or out-of-country property owner, and you would still like to support the local Fire Department, donations in the form of checks, made out to the Gilbert-Summit Fire Department, can be forwarded to me.

This is a great opportunity to express our appreciation to our local Fire Department for the services that they provide to our community. It's also a fun time for the neighbors to get together and visit!

New Signs at Whtieplains

You may have noticed a few new signs that have gone up at Whiteplains this past weekend. So far about a dozen signs have gone up with more to follow. We have tried to place them where they can be easily seen. They are made of high quality material and should last a good while.

The new signs have arrived!

Whiteplains new signs have arrived. They are made out of commercial grade 3M reflective stock on thick aluminum backing plate. New posts have been ordered and should arrive in the next few days.

Two signs have been installed that already had the white posts. One is at Phase one and the other at Phase two.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

We will be hosting South Carolina Breakfast Club on Sunday May, 20th. The Pilot's Association is featuring the 1st Annual Fly Market so here's your opportuinity to turn some of your aviation junk into cash.

How it works:
You can pick up removable labels from Ray Hill or Nancy Van Wormer, price your items rounded to the nearest dollar and put your name or initials on the sticker so we can keep up with your money. Bring your items to John's and Vicky's hangar on Saturday between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
If you have any items too large for a table, please contact Nancy or Ray so that arrangements for space can be made.
If you have any items that are price negotiable you will need to be available in person or by cell phone on sunday.
After the Fly-In come by and pick up your money and any unsold items.

The Rules:
All items must be aviation related
Deliver to John & Vicky's hangar between 2 pm and 5 pm
Pick up all unsold items after the fly-in Sunday afternoon

Don't miss this opportunity to clean out your junk and make money.
