ADS-B Demo in Hickory, NC


Today, Ken, Bill and Don flew up to Hickory, NC. to see a demo of the new ADS-B system that is being rolled out across the USA. Right now only traffic and weather are being uploaded, but they have a lot more planned for the future. Like all new technology, it is a bit pricey but they hope to get the cost down from $20,000 now to $3,000. Time will tell, but I think this is a step in the right direction.

NC took a bold step in getting this system out. They installed 200 units FREE to anyone that wanted one that already had the MX display in their panel. The only catch is that you had to agree to give demo flights, like the one we went to. Not a bad deal at all.
