VASI/PLC System Update
Whiteplains Pilots...
Today, I made some minor changes to the VASI/PCL system.
As I told everyone in December that I would, I removed the previous five-click option. This will help to de-conflict us from Gilbert International. THE SYSTEM COMES ON WITH THREE CLICKS. Not two, not four, not five. Only THREE.
You may have noticed in recent days that the system would occasionally come on and off at random times. This was due to atmospheric noise, lightning and other such disturbances. To correct this, I "tightened" the squelch control a little bit. This should minimize the false commands, but will result in a slight decrease in maximum range. You should still be able to energize the system from at least a mile out. If you find that you are unable, please call me and tell me the circumstances.
As always, feel free to call with comments or questions.
Thanks.
Ken

Whiteplains BOD Meeting and Dinner
Since everyone couldn't attend the Board of Directors Meeting and Dinner, I recorded it in its entirety. Due to size limits on YouTube, I had to divide it up into four parts.

Whiteplains Young Eagle Flight - Completed!
The weather held for the first time after two aborted attempts due to weather. Thanks to Bill Como, Steve Sanderson, John Gardner and Don Cook for helping to making this event happen. We flew a total of nine Jr. ROTC cadets. Lt. Col. Jim Tucker said that he well have at least two more groups before the end of the year for us to fly.

Deadline Near For Paper Certificate

It you are one of the pilots who has not yet traded in your old paper certificate for an updated, tamperproof version, you have until March 31 to make the change. After that date, you will be ineligible to exercise your privileges with a paper certificate. When you do make the change, you can also replace your social security number with a new pilot certificate number — recommended for personal identity security. The fee for making the swap is $2, and you can order your new certificate on line.
To replace your airmen certificate click here: http://links.bonniermarinegroup.com/ctt?kn=25&m=4321796&r=NDc4NjI1OTQ1MwS2&b=0&j=MTQzOTg5Mzk2S0&mt=1&rt=0.
According to the site, it takes about two weeks for the FAA to process and mail the new certificate, so don't wait until the last minute.
